Il est destin\u00e9 \u00e0 remplacer le <strong>tramway urbain<\/strong> vieillissant et en mauvais \u00e9tat. La municipalit\u00e9 de Limoges et les dirigeants de la Compagnie des Tramways \u00c9lectriques de Limoges ont pris cette d\u00e9cision apr\u00e8s une visite \u00e0 <strong>Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>, qui a adopt\u00e9 ce mode de transport en 1930.\n                <\/p>\n                <p>\n                    Un premier plan fait \u00e9tat de 5 lignes. Il est \u00e9tendu \u00e0 huit lignes, et obtient l&rsquo;accord de l&rsquo;\u00c9tat par arr\u00eat\u00e9 minist\u00e9riel le <span class=\"highlight-date\">15 septembre 1939<\/span>. Ralentis par la guerre, les travaux de r\u00e9alisation de la premi\u00e8re ligne sont achev\u00e9s en 1943.\n                <\/p>\n            <\/div>\n\n            <div class=\"image-frame\" onclick=\"openLightbox(this)\">\n                <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cptcl.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1763038902-banniereweb_en_11-2025.png\" alt=\"V\u00e9tra CB60 historique\">\n                <div class=\"zoom-badge\">1 clic pour agrandir<\/div>\n                <p style=\"text-align:center; font-size:0.85rem; margin:10px 0 0 0; font-family:serif; font-style:italic;\">Le service inaugural assur\u00e9 par les V\u00e9tra CB60<\/p>\n            <\/div>\n\n            <span class=\"section-tag\">L&rsquo;Inauguration et l&rsquo;Occupation<\/span>\n            <div class=\"history-text\">\n                <p>\n                    Le <span class=\"highlight-date\">14 juillet 1943<\/span>, la C.T.E.L. inaugure sa premi\u00e8re ligne de trolleybus, qui porte le <strong>num\u00e9ro 2<\/strong> et relie la Place Carnot \u00e0 l&rsquo;Avenue Baudin. Le service est alors assur\u00e9 par des <strong>V\u00e9tra CB60<\/strong>. Ces v\u00e9hicules sont construits par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 V\u00e9tra, qui durant l&rsquo;Occupation d\u00e9localise son activit\u00e9 de Paris \u00e0 Limoges.\n                <\/p>\n                <p>\n                    Au mois d&rsquo;octobre suivant, c&rsquo;est au tour de la <strong>ligne 3<\/strong> d&rsquo;\u00eatre convertie au trolleybus avec l\u00e0 encore des CB60 en service. La ligne est directement fusionn\u00e9e avec la ligne 2, ce qui explique l&rsquo;<strong>absence de ligne 3<\/strong> dans le r\u00e9seau actuel.\n                <\/p>\n            <\/div>\n\n            <div class=\"image-frame\" onclick=\"openLightbox(this)\">\n                <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cptcl.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1763038902-banniereweb_en_11-20251.png\" alt=\"Ancien trolleybus de Limoges\">\n                <div class=\"zoom-badge\">1 clic pour agrandir<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n\n            <span class=\"section-tag\">La fin des Tramways<\/span>\n            <div class=\"history-text\">\n                <p>\n                    En novembre 1945, c&rsquo;est au tour de la ligne 6 de voir le tramway remplac\u00e9 par le trolleybus, puis en octobre 1948 la ligne 4. Le remplacement des tramways sur les <strong>lignes 5 et 1<\/strong>, respectivement en mars et en <span class=\"highlight-date\">juillet 1951<\/span>, met fin d\u00e9finitivement \u00e0 la circulation de tramway urbain \u00e0 Limoges.\n                <\/p>\n                <p>\n                    L&rsquo;ouverture d&rsquo;une sixi\u00e8me ligne portant le <strong>num\u00e9ro 9<\/strong> en mai 1953 porte \u00e0 26 km la taille du r\u00e9seau. En 1954, la Compagnie des Tramways \u00c9lectriques de Limoges (CTEL) devient la <strong>Compagnie des Trolleybus de Limoges (CTL)<\/strong>. Les extensions du r\u00e9seau en 1963 et 1965 portent le r\u00e9seau \u00e0 sa taille actuelle, soit 32 km de voies \u00e9quip\u00e9es de lignes a\u00e9riennes.\n                <\/p>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n\n        <footer class=\"footer-history\">\n            CPTCL &#8211;
