Dot\u00e9e de deux commutatrices de 450 kW, elle \u00e9tait insuffisante pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins nouveaux, car les trolleybus n\u00e9cessitaient une puissance plus importante au d\u00e9marrage. Les premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es furent donc marqu\u00e9es par des pannes fr\u00e9quentes et des baisses de tension qui perturbaient l&rsquo;exploitation.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <p>\n                Ce n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;en octobre 1945 que l&rsquo;une des deux sous-stations nouvelles pr\u00e9vues dans le programme de transformation de 1938 put \u00eatre mise en service : la sous-station <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Carnot\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, d&rsquo;une puissance de 500 kW, suivie en 1951 de la sous-station <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Cirque\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, d&rsquo;une puissance de 2&#215;500 kW. Une troisi\u00e8me sous-station avait \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9vue au carrefour Route de Toulouse\/Route de Lyon, mais sa construction fut diff\u00e9r\u00e9e et jamais r\u00e9alis\u00e9e.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <div class=\"tech-box\">\n                Les redresseurs \u00e0 vapeurs de mercure transformant le courant de 15 000 V fourni par EDF en 600V continu, furent ult\u00e9rieurement remplac\u00e9s par des redresseurs au silicium de 700 kW.\n            <\/div>\n\n            <p>\n                En 1989, le renouvellement du parc par les trolleybus ER100.H, plus performants mais aussi plus gros consommateurs de courant, n\u00e9cessitait la construction d&rsquo;une troisi\u00e8me sous-station <strong>\u00ab\u00a0H\u00f4tel de Ville\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, d&rsquo;une puissance de 600 kW. Une quatri\u00e8me sous-station <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Jules Ferry\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> \u00e9tait mise en service en 1996 \u00e0 l&rsquo;ouest de la ville, afin d&rsquo;alimenter les prolongements dans ce secteur des lignes 5 et 6.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <div class=\"media-block\">\n                <div class=\"photo-frame\" onclick=\"openLightbox(this)\">\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cptcl.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/swisstrolley-4-2013.jpg\" alt=\"Trolleybus Hess Swisstrolley4\">\n                    <p class=\"caption\">\n                        <strong>Photo &#8211; Vincent Lobjois &#8211; Ao\u00fbt 2013 :<\/strong> Tout pr\u00e8s de la section d&rsquo;alimentation de la ligne 4 par la sous-station \u00ab\u00a0H\u00f4tel de Ville\u00a0\u00bb (pr\u00e8s de l&rsquo;ancienne clinique Ch\u00e9nieux), un trolleybus Hess Swisstrolley4 passe sans bruit ni pollution.\n                    <\/p>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n\n            <p>\n                Enfin, les deux anciennes sous-stations \u00ab\u00a0Cirque\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Carnot\u00a0\u00bb, v\u00e9tustes et ne r\u00e9pondant plus aux normes actuelles, \u00e9taient remplac\u00e9es par les sous-stations <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Malesherbes\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> en 1999 et <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Tarrade\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> en 2001, chacune d&rsquo;une puissance de 800 kW.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <p>\n                Les 4 sous-stations sont t\u00e9l\u00e9command\u00e9es depuis un poste de contr\u00f4le situ\u00e9 dans le local de r\u00e9gulation de l&rsquo;exploitation du Clos Moreau. Il n&rsquo;existe pas toutefois de redondance dans l&rsquo;alimentation du r\u00e9seau : chaque sous-station alimente une zone et ne peut secourir une autre sous-station d\u00e9faillante, comme c&rsquo;est le cas sur les r\u00e9seaux de tramways o\u00f9 une interconnexion permet de r\u00e9alimenter un secteur hors tension.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <p>\n                Les trolleybus disposent ainsi d&rsquo;une alimentation \u00e9lectrique moderne, bien r\u00e9partie sur le r\u00e9seau, et dont la tension a \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9e \u00e0 680 V \u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e des Cristalis puis <strong>750 V au d\u00e9but 2013<\/strong>, lors de la mise en service des trolleybus articul\u00e9s Hess.\n            <\/p>\n\n            <p style=\"font-weight: bold;
